Rutgers School of Law

I'm seriously considering going to law school after I'm finished with my undergrad. I'm going to graduate from Rutgers with a degree in criminal justice in about a year and a half, and I'm starting to prepare for my LSAT. I'm very interested in working in criminal law, and this seems to be a decent school for that. I realize it isn't up there with all of the prestigious private schools, but I'm trying to be realistic while also considering the money it will cost to go (and pay back).

I'm just wondering if any of you know anything about this school. Have you been there, what have you heard, etc. I'm nowhere close to the law school because it's in a different area of NJ so I literally know nothing about it. I'm obviously going to ask around campus, but I wanted to see if any of you knew anything first.

Thanks if anyone can help me.

Matt

Rutgers has two separate law schools: Rutgers-Newark and Rutgers-Camden. Though it is somewhat odd, these are indeed different schools, and they place predominately in the markets in which they are located [i.e. R-N places best in north NJ, whereas R-C places best in south NJ/Philly]. Best bet to get some insight on the schools is to check out their profiles on TLS and do some forum searching. Bottom line is that they are both great schools if your goal is to practice law in NJ. I was accepted to both with schollys but chose to remain in VA, but turning down R-N was a difficult choice. Since you mentioned that minimizing cost is a consideration, then either would be a great decision given in-state tuition, which makes R-N [and I'd imagine R-C too] very cheap. PM me if you have any particular questions, but I think any question can be adequately answered by searching old forums and such.
