Michigan v. Cornell

Postby anti-phronimos » Wed Jan 19, 2011 11:57 pm

edit: reposting after receiving $90,000 from Cornell.

The only other school I'm considering at this point is sticker @ Michigan. I sent them a letter today, but until I hear back I'm going to assume they're not biting.

Relevant Facts: Aiming for biglaw with an eye for eventually making it out to Oregon/Washington to be near the majority of my family. I know I'm likely going to end up in NYC, and that sounds great but I'd rather not be stuck on the east coast forever.

If I had the option of pursuing prestigious PI, I would...but I'm not banking on it until my own law school performance and other circumstances become clearer..

here's my arbitrarily formulated opinion:

60k+ reduction in overall cost (including Cost of Living) might be worth considering, but would probably be moot in that if you get a scholly at one of those, you might have a shot at weaseling out some $ from Mich.

Do everything in your power to end up at Michigan <sticker.

I think COA for Michigan is 20k-30k cheaper than COA for Cornell. So if Michigan gives you 45k or something, go there.

If it's Michigan at sticker v. Cornell with 90k, go to Cornell.
