to be honest, completely forgot about UCLA. To be fair, I am east coaster and dont think about cali schools often, but this does speak volumes about its "national" rep, if it has any.

I wouldn't say that one person forgetting about UCLA speaks volumes about its national reputation. I feel that UCLA is a lot more highly-regarded than BU in the region in which I live (right in the middle of the US). If any school will drop out of this range, I think it'll be Wash U. If any school moves into it, I think it will be Emory.

You might be right about Washu falling out, but no way in interplanetary law school clinics, is Emory moving up. Also, UCLA is more highly regarded for everything over BU, but neither have much national rep.gbpackerbacker wrote:MrAnon wrote:to be honest, completely forgot about UCLA. dude what. WUSTL has been steadily increasing its rep scores (and looks to be making the push for a 168 median this year), while Emory has been getting destroyed at OCI. The most volatile spot is definitely #20, though GW seems to be a stronger school than those grouped behind it (Illinois/ND/BC/BU). I agree that UCLA has a pretty good national rep, though.gbpackerbacker wrote:MrAnon wrote:to be honest, completely forgot about UCLA. 19 and 20 don't matter. Everything after USC through 30 is essentially one tier.

why does the rank of 15-20 in 2012 matter? Its like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. Only the top grads at these schools stand a chance of paying back their loans without going on a form of government assistance like IBR.

Well... it would matter if say... Texas moved to tie GULC at 15, or Cornell fell to 15... not that they will. Besides, it's fun to speculate.why does the rank of 15-20 in 2012 matter? This was random, oh and Michigan state is in the Big 10, which has proven to be completely worthless, unless Ohio state takes its bowl game. So i would throw them out completely lolFresh wrote:Final BCS standings prediction

Oh and Nebraska? got beat by the worst team in the PAC 10, also not deserving

Do you mean 14? because Texas is 15, so it would be GULC moving to tie Texas.ClancyTom wrote:Well... it would matter if say... But yes it is fun to speculate

+1 And I think WUSTL hops USC this year. Its more mobile than USC (or UCLA for that matter), and the cali economy is not so hot at the moment.beachbum wrote:dude what. This assesment is of course in no way influenced by my acceptance at WUSTL and being ignored by USC.

it was my understanding that at this level of rankings being more "mobile" is useless; nobody here is "mobile" enough for it to matter; instead it's better to be able to compete with t-14 grads in your own market, which USC certainly does compared to WUSTL (what is it's home market anyway?). in that sense i'm actually surprised WUSTL is even ranked this high. all the other 15-20 schools have defined home markets in which they are considered equal or better than lower t-14s.ihp12 wrote: +1 And I think WUSTL hops USC this year. Re: What will the new 15-20 order be for 2012?
I think mobility might matter in recruitment of students who can raise medians, and thus raise rankings. If you're a student at or above USC and WUSTLs medians, and you have to choose between USC and WUSTL, would you rather have a JD that is mobile (albeit with a weak home market) or that is stuck in a state with a stagnant economy? WUSTL may not place excellent in any one large legal market, but it does OK in a lot more legal markets than USC. (85% of USC grads stay in the pacific - NALP)dcgbm wrote:it was my understanding that at this level of rankings being more "mobile" is useless; nobody here is "mobile" enough for it to matter; instead it's better to be able to compete with t-14 grads in your own market, which USC certainly does compared to WUSTL (what is it's home market anyway?). in that sense i'm actually surprised WUSTL is even ranked this high. all the other 15-20 schools have defined home markets in which they are considered equal or better than lower t-14s.ihp12 wrote: +1 And I think WUSTL hops USC this year. This might not matter if you are a west coaster or a mid-westerner and want to stay in that region, but I imagine it might if you're planning to move from another region and are not married to the idea of staying in the same region as your respective school. Most applicants are in their early 20s, which means they are probably more likely to want to keep their living location options open.

Re: What will the new 15-20 order be for 2012?
I'd always assumed USC was more mobile than WashU. I think there might be more of an element of self-selection than you're accounting for. People want to stay on the West Coast because they like it, and went to USC partially because they had that intention. They go to WashU and think, let me get the FUCK out of here.ihp12 wrote:I think mobility might matter in recruitment of students who can raise medians, and thus raise rankings. Maybe I'm wrong. What do y'all think? Does USC provide any sort of mobility, objectively speaking? If not, where does its reach extend to? Just SoCal? all of California? Pacific Northwest? Rest of the country? How about compared to WashU?
