Is this a thread asking to which school to apply? Or is this a "if I get in both which one should I go to?" thread?

Don't be silly. Go to CLS. If you get in.

Even then I'd rather vacation in New York.

Which is what makes us different. But the point is to buy a time share and sail in Malibu, then fly back to your loft in NY.

I'm a city boy. I'll go to Europe before I sit on a beach in Malibu doing nothing all day. Or fly business class to Australia, then to Europe, then back home. I won't be spending enough time in SoCal to justify a summer share.

I'm sorry, maybe I missed something...
But besides you wanting to make it "an even 20," if you're seriously considering this by any means why not make it 21 and just apply to both? You said you have fee waivers to both, so just pay the extra $12 for the processing fee.

No the point is to have a home in Malibu, then fly to your timeshare/loft in NY. I was just thinking there is no way I am raising my kids in NYC, they would be cheated out of the most basic fun things.

I would probably take UCLA($$$) over Columbia. Def. B over C.

Or for the lawyers who destroy themselves with 80 hour weeks and know that they probably won't have a real vacation for 20 years. Let's be real, we're going into a brutal profession.

Or the desire to distinguish ourselves from our proletariat background. Upwards mobility (or some form of improvement) is the goal of any human suited for propogating the race.

The point is to have a home in Westchester/Greenwich (yes a biglaw lawyer can afford Greenwich, it's not Newport Beach you know), work in Manhattan, and then fly to Europe/Oz/NZ/South Africa/wherever I feel like. No way I'm raising kids in California, they'd be cheated out of decent schools. Timeshares/vacation homes are overrated. Forces you to go to the same vacation spot over, and over, and over, and over again. Might buy a hotel condo (basically a hotel room that you buy and get a certain % off the revenue that the hotel makes) in Hawaii but for investment purposes.

Point is, Columbia>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Pepperdine, end of story.

The only school you should be taking over Columbia is Stanford.

Yeah, Harvard and Yale suck.

And choosing Chicago instead? That's a surefire way to be unemployed.

I think OP should go to Pepperdine. I'll take your spot at CLS and send you a gift-basket and a surf board to enjoy your time at Pepperdine. (rhyme unintended, sadly)

I was addressing the OP's supposed fondness of the west coast.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
