Best for the Southwest

For states in the SW: AZ,NM,CO,UT,NV, besides T14 is there a school that separates itself from the others. Each of these states has 1 or 2 decent schools(UA,ASU,UNM,UC,Utah,BYU,UNLV). Is there one that gives better mobility than others or are they all really limited to their state. Also would it be better to go to say USC,UCLA,or Texas, instead of going to one of the state schools, if one is looking to practice in one of these states.

Outside the T14, Texas and UCLA place well in the Southwest.

If you want to practice specifically in one of those states I would consider that state school if you have no ties. If you have ties then I might consider UCLA or UT.

As a thirty-year resident of N.Mex., I deny categorically that Texas is a Southwestern State. Texas is a SOUTHERN State and don't you forgit it, neither! :)

So defining the Southwest as N.Mex., Ariz., Utah, Colo., and Nev., the school with the best regional reputation is probably U. Colorado at Boulder.

Texas is definitely not Southern. I think most people would put it in the Southwest, but it's really just in that awkward transition spot.

ASU or Arizona for Arizona or Nevada, New Mexico for New Mexico, Colorado for Colorado, Utah or BYU for Utah & Texas law schools for Texas.

IMO the order would go UT, UCLA, CU-B, all others.

And Vanderbilt and Notre Dame, certainly. And Iowa and Kansas aren't terrible options.

BYU is by far the most mobile degree of any school actually based in the Southwest.

TCR

UCLA and Texas are not considered by many firms to be any better than the local schools.

Texas is really more like it's own country/region.
