I think the general accepted ranking is:

1. UF
2. FSU
3. UM
4. Stetson

I would agree with deadpanic's rakings of :

1. UF
2. FSU
3. UM
4. Stetson

However, FIU is coming on strongly. This is particularly true for their cheap pricing, which is attracting a number of qualified candidates. Don't be surprised in the near future
if they surpass UM. You heard it here. This is also somewhat true for Stetson, who is making a big effort to attract some nationally known faculty and are also a bit less expensive than that of Miami..

UF=UM>FSU>Stetson.

Yes, I realize that UF is a much better financial decision than UM.

However, that is not what the OP asked.

South FL: UM > UF> FSU
Rest: UF>FSU>UM

Florida obviously places the best statewide but Miami is #1 in South Fla (defined as miami dade, palm beach, broward counties). Miami is the least "southern" of these schools

he asked for the ranking, and to put uf/um as equivalents is borderline criminal. this is coming from a so. fl resident and a huge um supporter, btw.

Central and North FL

UF>FSU>>>>>>>>>>>>>Stetson

Don't go anywhere else, and don't go to Stetson unless you're getting about a full scholarship. UF or FSU in-state is the best bet.

South FL

UF=UM or UF>UM. UM>UF is not a good argument. And don't go to Miami unless you're getting gobs of cash. Eagles will disagree vehemently on these two points.

UF. Cheaper, and if S. FL does not work out, you will have better statewide prospects.

Do you have S. FL ties, incidentally?

Depends on the student, but alumni network and loyalty basically. I don't have a strong opinion other than that UM>UF is false. It really is tough to call, but I still recommend UF in-state over Miami in every situation except probably a full scholarship.

Reasoning:

UF has better statewide prospects just in case Miami doesn't work out. Furthermore, you already have connections in the area and a concrete reason to tell employers about why you want to work in Miami. You don't need UM to provide that stuff. So go to UF.
