Need Help Seton Hall or Rutgers Camden
I'm having a hard time deciding. I'm from New Jersey, but I don't think I want to practice here. The New York and Philly markets also don't thrill me. I would like to go back to DC, where I went undergrad. I know these schools are out of the region, but I was waitlisted at 6 others, most of them with better DC pull. I know I want to study Constitutional Law, but other than that I don't know what type of law I want to practice. Thanks for the help

Neither if you don't want to work in NJ. They are both Jersey schools.
However, if you need to go to school now and aren't willing to re-take the LSAT for a better chance at DC, pick between North Jersey and South Jersey (fwiw, I want to live/work in NJ, was accepted to all 3 NJ schools and chose Rutgers-Camden).

Don't go to either. Retake and reapply.WhizzerWhite wrote:I would like to go back to DC, where I went undergrad.

Sorry, but you are planning on going to a regional school where you don't want to practice. Its just not a good idea. If you want to work in NJ - SH with 35k and reasonable scholarship stipulation isn't a bad choice - but for DC it definately is.WhizzerWhite wrote:Thanks for the advice blindmelon. Reasons:WhizzerWhite wrote:Keg411 what was the tipping point in favor of Rutgers Camden for you.
1) Legacy
2) $$$ (though my scholarships at both state schools were the same; however, I also take into consideration debt load if I lost my scholly which would be devastating at SHU and not an issue at either Rutgers school).
3) Less competition in South Jersey than North Jersey (though the legal market is smaller)
4) Of major markets, prefer Philly to NYC
5) Currently live in North Jersey and need a change of scenery. Would not have an issue travelling back there for employment IF I wanted to.
