huh. that actually sounds like a disincentive to go to chicago.

and harvard only has 3 grades (no plus/minus) HP, P, and you suck.... whereas chicago has a much more specific grading scale

to be fair, people who actually WANT to be graded the way that chicago does are masochists. if you are a masochist, by all means come to U of C. just let it be known that not all of us self-selected into that bullshit grading system.

iafg: maybe you can play the goodwill hunting angle. take up some menial custodian position and write up solutions to challenging logic games on chalkboards in vacant classrooms. we'll all play dumb and shrug our shoulders at the genius amongst us, and all you'd have to do is convince Helmholz or some other senior prof that you were the real deal. i'd guess dean perry would go for it.

You sir/ madam are a gangster.

It's a tough question now. How do you turn down Harvard? How do you turn down a top 5 law school FOR FREE?

Man. Crack a beer and have a think. This can ONLY end well for you.

Solid. Yeah, wait to see what you're getting from Harvard. And don't underestimate the weight and scariness of debt.

Im guessing it wont be very much. I was explicitly told that they expect students to finance
school mostly through borrowing.

I still think HLS is probably the right call. Going to school for free at any of CCN is an awesome, awesome opportunity and will relieve a lot of the stress that most students face. The way that I looked at it though, is that Harvard is better for any possible legal job and may be immeasurably better if you switch careers later on in your life. Paying back the loans will suck no doubt, but LIPP exists if you want to go the public route and if you stay in the private sector, you'll be ok financially.

Edit: either way, win-win. Congrats dude.
