University of San Diego - where to live off campus?

Hi there,

I'm considering USD. I was browsing craigslist to get an idea of off-campus rental prices, but had a devil of a time identifying the right neighborhoods to search in. Can someone give me some insight?

Criteria is no more than $1000/mo for a 1bd, cat friendly

Within 15-20 minutes walking distance of campus (though I do have a car and a partner who will be able to drop me off and pick me up, so this isn't crucial).

So yeah. Help please? Where do you off campus people live? For those that commute by freeway, how bad is the traffic?
