From what I've been told, it seems that it would be about top 65% or so, which would make it pretty much the same requirement as WFU.

Coin toss?!
Without more specific information, a coin flip may be your best guide, thus, the better poll might be which school should be heads & which should be tails.

What else would help you guys advise me? I want to work in NC (preferably). I don't want a lot of debt. I want a decent paying job (I would be satisfied starting at $70,000 or so). I love both schools and their towns. Honestly, I probably like W&M better overall, but it seems that WFU fits my needs and would give me a better shot at an NC job. What do you guys think? If there's something else I can say that will help, let me know. Essentially, the question is: is W&M worth $30,000 more for somebody in my position?

Sounds to me like you've answered your own question.

The employment chart that gets tossed around has ~25% of W&M grads going into biglaw, and ~10% of Wake Forest grads. May have changed though, it's a couple of years old.

Have you looked at your expected starting salary and what your monthly payment would be with your debt at either school? Also, have you calculated the costs if you lose your scholarship? I think they'd be about the same, unless you're in-state in VA. And have you factored in COL? Williamsburg is significantly more expensive than Winston-Salem. Once you've done that, the answer may be obvious.

If not, it really comes down to whether being in NC and saving money is worth giving up the school you prefer. And how important it is to you to get into biglaw. Online posters can't really help you with that.

You want NC. Wake is better for NC. Wake is cheaper. Go to Wake.
I'm going to W&M, but if you know NC is the place for you, then Wake is as good as you can do outside of Duke. Wake's recent employment stats have been better across the board than UNC.

Wake all the way. Even though they really bungled their basketball coaching situation.

Yeah. Really. That's one strike against them.

In all seriousness though, if I lose the scholarship at Wake after the first year, the total cost would be about $95,000-100,000, which is still cheaper than (or very near) W&M. As it stands, I expect to be a Wake. I just wanted to hear what others thought as well. I don't know that I could justify an extra $30,000 to go to a school that wouldn't necessarily get me a better job that WF should. I thought some of you guys might could justify paying the extra money and was wondering why. That's pretty much it. Thanks for the responses thus far.

Wake Forest will allow you to keep half the money just with passing grades. I think WF is the best option.

Yeah. The $95,000 figure that I mentioned paying if I lost the scholarship after the first year includes keeping half of the scholarship. It appears that it will be Wake Forest. Just wanted to get some more thoughts on it.

Can you point me to those stats? I'm not disagreeing, but I'm not familiar with that, and I'll be considering Duke, UNC, and Wake (yes).

Don't worry about it. Go to Duke.
