Yea, that makes sense. He'd fake his own dropping out for message board celebritydom.

Seriously, that is the dumbest shit anyone could possibly say to this I have a good friend who is a 2L with median gfrades and struck the fuck out. He's strongly considering cutting bait like this dude. Why don't you, for a moment, step back, remove your head from your ass, and consider that maybe, just maybe the vaunted t14 isn't lemondrops and sunshine all the livelong fucking day?

Dropping out as a 2L is pretty stupid, no?

Man up, get the grades, work your ass off to get a job. Career services can't get every student a job even at Harvard.

It is so sad when someone drops out of a t14 school. I think people drink WAY too much of the TLS doom and gloom kool-aid and end up making one of the worst decisions of their lives. This is unless you have a job lined up (like as an engineer or something), you know you hate the law and everything about the career, and know you will never work in the industry. If those elements are not bet, it is rare that it is a good decision. OP: I really do hope this is a joke, but if not, you should really, REALLY consider taking a deep breath and backing off and looking at the big picture for a second before making such a hasty and life altering choice.

It's not all lemondrops and sunshine, but it will become a lot darker if he drops out as a 2L/3L. Short of MAJOR life crisis, dropping out is the wrong decision. Too much debt invested to give up half way through.

Oblomov wrote:If you're considering schools in the t-14 and have options other than the UMich, take your other option(s). Their career services goes beyond incompetent. They give advice that actually harms students' career searches and refuse to make even minimal effort or accommodation for students. I'd be willing to bet that their employment statistics for the next two years will verify this, if they release honest data. Without exaggeration, I wish that I had taken any of my offers in place of this one. Well, maybe not Georgetown, but any of the others.

Egregious T13 trolling.

I'd like to hear what Oblomov has to say as well. The 2Ls I met at Michigan didn't have the same gripes as he did, but maybe I was only getting one side of the story. I'm just curious what sort of bad advice career services has supposedly been giving people.

I'm so glad that although I am going to a T3, all of my connections went to U of M Law. They seem to have great jobs.

I feel like he's either not being honest or not being rational...otherwise he would have provided the details on such a bold assertion.

First of all, tell that academic theory to someone who has loads of debt and zero prospects (like a law school dropout). Secondly, even if you do apply that logic, you are looking at one year of tuition (say 45-50k sticker) vs. a lifetime of having a UMichigan JD. As an above poster said, if you really hate the idea of practicing law it might be worth it to drop out. But to those who would drop out because the economy sucks right now, realize that the economy sucks for all professions. Be glad you are studying at an elite school instead of having to pay those loans back right now!

This is not the kind of thing I want to be reading hours after I mailed my deposit into Michigan...
