Ok, I've got one.

Columbia (sticker)
NYU (50k total)
UCLA (60k, in state)

I want to work in big law.

Thoughts?

NYU if you want NYC. For anywhere else, Columbia.

assuming the person wants nyc biglaw, no way the marginal, albeit very real and tangible, differences between cls and nyu are work 50k of debt.

the calculus changes somewhat if the goal is to work outside of new york.

Leaked 2009 OCI data confirms this. Though its hearsay.

Im going to stay on the WL at Columbia, but not counting on anything.

My problem is... Im from a small town and know I would enjoy Durham, but Im interested in L & E and Duke offers almost nothing in that area. Chicago would be a change of pace that I might enjoy, so much more to do there (maybe too stressful though?). Had a great time at both ASW's. Im leaning U of C just because of better placement in Big law, but is it worth paying 60k more for?
Yes, it is.

I really wish Duke had a little more to offer in the L & E area (I know im comparing to THE L & E school, maybe im being harsh). I actually talked to a 1L about it and he kind of dismissed L & E, saying it replaced the objective of Law with efficiency instead of justice (the straw-man attack wasnt very convincing, in my opinion). Any other thoughts? Im thinking I will end up sending my seat deposit to Chicago tommorow at this point.

I am tempted to draw an analogy comparing your club with an online-gaming clan, but I will resist since I like a lot of the posters that are apparently in this club.

Many in said club would only find that analogy a compliment.

Loyola LA if you want to work in LA. Even if you lose the scholarship, that's still 28K for 1L.
