Illinois- In state

Plan to work in Chicago post-graduation, either in public interest OR big law, not quite sure yet. Also come from business background, so not averse to going into industry in the future either. Help!!?!

Everyone will say Chicago. But, after having visited NU last week, I can say that I might have this choice (if WL-in at Chi) and would probably choose NU.

I also noticed you didn't say anything about clerkships or academia, further making NU a reasonable option.

I like NY and DC but would be fine with Chicago
One half of my family in Ann Arbor (mother's side)
Other half of the family in DC (father in DC politics)
Fiancee' family from Ann Arbor (her father went to Mich Law)
Fiscally conservative (emphasis on fiscally)
I was much more impressed at the Mich ASW, yet UVA total cost is 30k less
Fiancee willing to relocate, but interested in public policy school... Mich has a top 10(ish) program while UVA's program is relatively new.

Interested in private practice, at least right now... at least for a while.

This is tough because I feel like I have connections to both and good reason to attend either.

Mich is TCR. Your fiance won't have to move and her school program will be better. Your school will be slightly more prestigious, and you liked Mich better at ASW.

Yeah, after an awesome ASW I really want to find an excuse to say NU. But Chicago is just more nationally portable, more clerking/academic opportunities, and firms will go deeper into the class. That's probably worth being stuck in Hyde Park for 3 years.

Contra, I met a HYP grad at ASW who got into UChi but was only considering NU.

W&M - 24k (of 32)
BU - 15k (of 39)
Emory - 24k (of 42)
W&L - 34k (of 38)
IUB -Full Ride

I'd prefer DC and would prefer not to work in NYC, though I have no strong ties anywhere. I liked W&M the most of all. I'm leaning PI/Gov't, but really....I don't know what I'll end up doing for sure.

Is picking W&M over all these slightly goofy?

With those numbers and that goal, I'm inclined to say "what happened to CLS and NYU?"
