Are you talking about how Duke got 100% employment rate right after graduation?Panther7 wrote:I want to meet the guy who failed Wisconsin's diploma privilege...

Being from St. Louis, my understanding is that job placement in St. Louis in Kansas City was abysmal and with state budget cuts and lot of key faculty walked. However, this doesn't explain such a precipitous decline. They are ranked behind so many public schools that they had a leg up on ever since the rankings came out.Nicholasnickynic wrote:chadwick218 wrote:The biggest losser appears to be the University of Missouri. Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but Cornell has the highest bar passage rate in NY. Higher than Yale, Harvard, Columbia, NYU, Duke, UVA, ect...

Besides that the big losses that I think are surprising are Buffalo, South Carolina, and Marquette falling out. All fell out from the 80s.Nicholasnickynic wrote:chadwick218 wrote:The biggest losser appears to be the University of Missouri. Down 34 spots from 59 to 93!

If anyone wonders, Ray is this awesome in real life too.Nightrunner wrote:and BOOM goes the dynamite.rayiner wrote:http://lawfirmaddict.blogspot.com/2006/ ... ement.htmlpelmen74 wrote: I assume there is a strong self-selection bias. NU does have the reputation for older students, most of which go to law school because they want to get paid, hence BigLaw. I assume the percentage doing clerkships or public service in NU is low (correct me if I'm wrong). This contribute to low peer assessment, especially from judges. Plus, NJ250 stats does not mean good Vault 20 placement stats which I assume could make a difference in peer assessment.

You heard wrong. You can easily find this years methodology on the usnwr website. There were minor tweakings.
You really think usnwr would put heavy emphasis on size of library?

Mizzou is also AWFUL about giving scholarships... seriously, WUSTL and several other T25 were cheaper for me than Mizzou. They just aren't attracting top students.chadwick218 wrote:Being from St. Louis, my understanding is that job placement in St. Louis in Kansas City was abysmal and with state budget cuts and lot of key faculty walked. I feel terrible for SLU, though. They deserve to be a Tier 2... they have phenomenal St. Louis placement, the best health law program in the country, and fought WUSTL to the bitter end for jobs this year (their career services official is phenomenal).

Huh. I noticed that a few of the schools in the alleged rankings are unaccredited, namely the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania. This seems to cast doubt on the leak's veracity.Nicholasnickynic wrote:above the law = Law gossip

Re: USNWR Rankings Released...Seriously
One thing that strikes me upon further examination is the peer and lawyer scores.
They really break up into four groups this year. YHS are all pretty much equivalent. C and C are equal. N, B, P, M and V are pretty much equivalent. Then we get to D, N, C and G, which are pretty much equivalent. Everything after is markedly lower.
It wasn't nearly such a neat order last year.
