Best schools for International Law (Human rights)?

Postby jayjohn » Sat Apr 03, 2010 2:20 pm

I was wondering which school out of the Top 20 are the strongest when it comes to international human rights law, clinics geared towards that area, and internships or programs with big international law names.

YLS is awesome in this area. In fact, it seems like international human rights is all that most of the students are interested in. I think it's because of our former Dean Harold Koh.

I've heard Harvard and Columbia are OK too. Probably NYU is up there as well.

Here is USNWR's Rankings for international law (again, YLS's focus in international law is international human rights, so I think it's #1 in that subarea):

Best Law Schools Specialty Rankings: International Law

1 Columbia University

2 New York University

3 Harvard University

8 George Washington University

T20 Schools with human rights clinics include: Yale, Harvard, Stanford, NYU, Cornell, Berk, UCLA, USC, NYU, GULC, Columbia, UVa, Northwestern, Georgetown (Women's Human Rights), Texas

(This is just a list I put together with quick google searches. Feel free to correct/update it!)
