It really does come down to where you want to practice.

CA, OR, WA, NV, CO, AZ, etc. = Hastings

Everywhere else = WUSTL

yeah, pretty much. From what I gather, WUSTL travels much better to the east than the west. So it's your call based on living preference.

WUSTL. got an offer from a firm paying close to market in CA. grades were mediocre but I have ties to CA.

geographic distribution of WUSTL's c/o 2008:

pacific (CA, WA, OR, etc): 8%
mid-atlantic (NYC, etc): 14%
south atlantic (DC, etc): 17%
new england (Boston, etc): 3%
east north central (Chicago, etc): 16%
west north central (St Louis, etc): 25%
mountain (Denver, Las Vegas, etc): 5%
east south central (Memphis, etc): 3%
west south central (Houston, Dallas, etc): 6%
foreign: 4%
