Re: Berkeley vs. Northwestern + $135,000??
Northwestern University School of Law is the clear choice in my opinion. On another thread I posted the results from the February, 2010 National Law Journal survey of recent hires by the nation's largest 250 law firms. The survey results are:
1) Northwestern Univ. School of Law
2) Columbia Law School
3) Stanford Law School
4) Chicago Law School
5) Virginia Law School
6) Michigan Law School
7) Penn Law School
NYU School of Law
9) UCal-Berkeley School of Law
10) Duke Law School
Yale had a high percentage of its law graduates select judicial clerkships so Yale Law School did not finish in the top ten for this survey.
The survey results were released on Feb. 22 or 24, 2010.

this one's so easy i'd be blown away if you chose the former. go NU and don't look back. if you were talking about cls, then maybe you'd give it a second thought, but not berkeley...

I don't know OP, Northwestern is the clear choice given the circumstances, but have you tried using that money to leverage some money from Berkeley? From what I understand Berkeley has a matching program which I think Northwestern is a part of. Although they probably wont give you 135k they might throw some money at you to make things interesting. Just saying, doesn't hurt to try.

Ha! There you go OP, Northwestern it is. Weird that they leave Northwestern off that list though...extempore88 wrote:Unfortunately for the OP, Berkeley will only entertain competing offers from the T14-Northwester.elmagic wrote:I don't know OP, Northwestern is the clear choice given the circumstances, but have you tried using that money to leverage some money from Berkeley? Re: Berkeley vs. Northwestern + $135,000??
...it's a pretty stupid thread, no doubt, but i think it'd be absolutely crazy to take (even) Columbia at sticker over 135k at NU considering median at Columbia is striking out ite. (A CLS 2L posted that you need to be top 1/3 at CLS this past OCI to land NYC biglaw. This sounds similar to schools ranked lower than it so maybe firms would rather pull from the top 1/3 at every high ranked school rather than dig deeper at certain schools.)bayvcroberts wrote:this one's so easy i'd be blown away if you chose the former. go NU and don't look back. if you were talking about cls, then maybe you'd give it a second thought, but not berkeley...
