UT$$ UVA$$ Penn$$ or NYU for Big law

Post by trc332 » Tue Mar 23, 2010 2:33 pm

I am having trouble even narrowing down the field. I have basically half schollys to all schools except NYU where I would pay full tuition. I most likely want Texas Big Law. Thanks for the input.

I'm from Texas and I know how snobbish Texans can be about schools. If you can bear to be in Austin for 3 years I'd say go UT, stay at the top of your class and go biglaw.

Thanks for the responses. Is there any benefit to being one of only a few students wanting to break into the Texas legal market from a school like Penn, or is this benefit trumped by the UT alumni network?

UT dominates the Texas biglaw market but UVA is well represented also. Not sure about NYU and Penn. I would suggest going on the firm websites. They have search tools for their lawyers and most of them can be searched by school. I've only gone on the Baker Botts, Fulbright, and Andrews Kurth websites but I would imagine the others would be set up the same way.
