Vandy vs. UT vs. Minnesota
So I'm having trouble deciding, so I thought I would ask TLS for some advice. I'm lucky enough to have been admitted to three great schools with great scholarships. The Vandy and UT scholarships are about half and almost identical. The Minnesota scholarship is full tuition. I'm not very interested in Minnesota, but no debt is very enticing. I wanted to see if anyone could convince me that Minnesota is a good choice. Here's my situation:
I am very interested in sports law, but I realize that it is a hard field to break into. I have worked four years with a major D1 program and have made many contacts. Many advise me to first gain some experience with a law firm and then pursue a career with a professional team. So, I am not set on any type of law, but I am leaning towards corporate law, since that will most likely mirror a sports organization. Regarding location, I have grown up in Texas and love it. I want to end up in Texas, but I would like to leave for a while to experience other areas of the country, which makes me interested in Vanderbilt. Currently, I'm leaning towards Vandy (smaller classes, law and business certificate, lay prestige), but I switch between Vandy and UT every week. Am I crazy for considering Vandy when I want to end up in Texas, or does Vandy offer me the same opportunities in Texas as UT?
Oh, I have visited all three schools and love them all!

If you want Texas, it is probably best to go there. You can experience the rest of the country when you vacation or travel with a sports team.yoyoma wrote:So I'm having trouble deciding, so I thought I would ask TLS for some advice. If you know you want Texas, there is no reason to forgo the networking opportunities and the alumni network that you get at UT for Vandy.
Won't UT also be cheaper with in-state tuition?

No, Vandy gave me a scholarship that was equal to UT's in-state tuition + the small scholarship UT gave me, but the networking opportunities are something I need to think about. Thanks!Esc wrote:If you know you want Texas, there is no reason to forgo the networking opportunities and the alumni network that you get at UT for Vandy.

For those that have voted Vandy, what is your reasoning?
