I know the 1L who mentioned the "72% V50" thing, and when I got the information it was qualified as being for C/O 2010. Also, there is no way in hell Chicago placed 72% V50 for C/O 2011.

They had 68% V50 placement for C/O 2007, which was a boom hiring year.

Apparently word has gotten around that CSO here is claiming ridiculous placement for CO 2011. I'll believe it when I hear it from them directly--any number higher than 60% for biglaw generally, much less V50, doesn't seem believable for Chicago this year.

I think the number at NYU/Columbia has been around 55% for biglaw OVERALL. I wouldn't believe it for a second if Chicago claimed 60%+ for V50, though I could maybe see them pulling off 60% for biglaw generally. I would accredit that to the smaller class size/Chicago market though.
