how difficult would it be to go to UT, summer on coasts

How tough would it be to find summer employment in Boston (where I'm from) or SoCal (where I'd love to be) if I attend UT? I have heard mixed things about this but what would the process actually be like? Just tons of phone calls?

I want to go into public interest/DA's office right after LS so I don't want to work at a firm over the summer I don't think

And I especially don't want to deal with summers in Austin but I am very enticed by the city other than that.
