#1 in class at MSU / where should I transfer

I am currently in my second semester at Michigan State. I got a 4.0 in the first semester and a jurisprudence award for getting the highest score in my section on one of the exams. I always wanted to do BIGLAW but was unable to get into any top flight schools because of my less than impressive 161. However, with a full semester of law school behind me do you guys think it's realistic that I could get into Chicago or Georgetown early admission or would they still be frightened off by the LSAT score? If not, can someone at the top of his/her class at a TTT have a realistic chance at getting into schools #4-14 at the end of the first year? Any comments or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Definitely consider Chicago ED, as I don't think you'll have much of a chance (or any) at YHS.

I completely agree with JSUVA on both points. Being number 1 is huge. You should definitely strongly consider Chicago ED.

If you can repeat your performance from last semester (or even close to it), blanket anywhere you would consider attending in the T14. I would be very surprised if you didn't have a number of options to choose from.

Congratulations and best of luck!

Chicago ED was made for you, though I'm not sure you'll get in (MSU is ranked lower than any school they took anyone from, ED or RD, last year).

You'll get in to a T14 somewhere down the line. If you don't get in to Chicago ED, I would obviously apply to Michigan and Northwestern, but I would just apply to anywhere in the T14 you would want to go. MSU is low enough on the totem poll that bailing for GULC is even probably worth it.

Don't be afraid of your LSAT score. I transferred in to Chicago with a 162, from a TTTTTTTTTTTTTTT Undergrad, etc, and I wasn't #1 in the class when I applied. You have a shot.

I would apply anywhere you want - what do you have to lose?

LS's don't look at your LSAT when you transfer (I mean they do, they just don't care). The LSAT is supposed to be a predictor of how you'll do in LS, but since you've already proven yourself there, it serves no purpose.

Chicago ED....FTW

also throw an app at Georgetown EA, just in case (as its not binding)

Be ready if Chicago doesn't let u in ED to apply to Duke, Cornell, Northwestern, Michigan, Virgina, Penn, Columbia and NYU (these last 2 take 55+ transfers so you may have a shot at t6 nonetheless)

Good luck and I have no doubt you will be attending a T14 next fall, if you want to.
