Looking for words of wisdom from the wise. Is it even worth transferring EA to Georgetown ITE?
We are on a B curve. I have no clue where I will fall rank-wise.

I think you have to consider whether ITE GULC will be able to open up doors that would not ordinarily be opened up to top students at a lower T1 school. I could be wrong, but I am not sure that a transfer at GULC would have much more luck than a student at the top of their class at a T1 school in a desirable market.

I am unsure of the opportunites that a GULC presents. Does anyone know what kind of luck Georgetown grads are having finding jobs? I am interested in the portability that a GULC degree has. This is the main reason I would look to transfer. Also, I am interested in corporate law and wouldn't mind working in a small/mid size market. Does GULC place well in this area? I am new to this site and will be the first to admit that I know very little about the transfer process or top lawschools in general. I would appreciate any advice.

You need to find out where you fall in class rank. You should consider applying to higher ranked schools if your GPA is that high, but I can't tell you that for certain without knowing what your actual rank is.

Tell us your school's median and historical top 10% cutoff, if known, then we can get sealocust in here and make him do math.

MINIMUM GRADE REQUIRED TO ATTAIN (Based on May 2008 graduation class)
Top 10%: 3.640
Top 25%: 3.398
Top 33%: 3.314
Top 50%: 3.125
Top 75%: 2.874

Thanks for the help. I am not sure if this is a good representation of what the 1L class is...I used the NALP site that was recommended.

If that's true you're easily in the top 5%. You have a shot at most of the T14 if you can keep that up for one more semester.

1L Classes of 2010 2011
3.7 up Top 2.72% Top 7.79%
3.6 up Top 10.0% Top 12.55%
3.5 up Top 16.36% Top 16.01%
3.4 up Top 25.00% Top 22.94%
3.3 up Top 34.09% Top 30.73%
3.2 up Top 41.81% Top 36.36%
3.1 up Top 51.36% Top 45.02%
3.0 up Top 63.18% Top 50.21%

What are the advantages/disadvantages of a GULC degree vs. a T1 school with a good class rank? I am still not sure where exactly I fall in the class. Is applying for transfer EA to GULC worth it?

With those grades you need to stop thinking GULC and start thinking HYSCCV.

I am definately going to apply to other T14 schools after the spring. I have heard nothing but great things about Georgetown and DC though. Also, I like the idea that they have a nonbinding early application. This hedges your bet at a T14 as a transfer. It is great that they look at you with only one semester of grades.

What do people believe the chances of GULC falling out of the T14 are?

You'll know before you apply for the upcoming rankings (~April).

I think the EA transfer apps are due before the new rankings will come out.

Yeah, but once the new rankings come out you'll be able to decide whether to decline their inevitable acceptance.

Yea...that is what I was thinking. I might have to eat a seat deposit, though. I would be surprised if GULC fell out of the top14. Even if they did,I dont think it would change the job prospects and portability of the degree in the immediate future.

Another question of mine is whether transfer students may parrticipate in joint degree programs at GULC, or any of the other T14 programs for that matter? Does anybody have a quick pro/con argument for transferring to GULC? Thanks for the help.
