Where does W&L even place? ITE or in the old economy.

TE is a quickly evolving and changing thing. 2L =/= 1L prospects, just as 3L =/= 2L prospects. Next years 1Ls are going to be in an even different position.

That isn't my question. What market does Washington and Lee place in?

Old I'd say Northern/Central VA and DC. ITE, I'd say mainly just in VA

Why do people always think T14 will chinage? Hasn't it not changed for at least 10 years?

Maybe it's wishful thinking by those headed to UT/UCLA/Vandy?

I mean, I guess US-News has absolutely no incentive to change it up, as their credibility would ultimately fall if it did. If GULC fell out of the T14, you would have a slew of GULC people (and other US News haters) proclaiming that US-News is even more garbage than we already though it was.

Does anyone think Wake, Tulane or SMU have a shot at moving up into this region?

Well, AP, we know which newsstand released them early. I'll bring a couple of classmates with me, and we can go hang out down there, quiz ourselves with the Law in a Flash cards, and wait for the inevitable.

+1 to all of this.

Also, I wonder if U.S. News tailors its rankings to our assumptions. For example, I wonder if IU will drop, not because they deserve to be lower, but because there was a complete backlash against U.S. News when IU was bumped up several spots.

That would assume that they pay any attention at all to an internet message board.

As SMU is up there on my list of potentials (assuming I'm admitted), I'd love to see them jump up into the T30, but it's unlikely. They're held back somewhat by their PT program as it brings their medians down, and it seems like their assessment scores a somewhat low given their reputation in Dallas.

Can't really comment on Wake or Tulane though.

Does anyone have any good raw data of LSAT and GPA medians that will be used?

It's laughable that you think the USNWR's credibility would be badly hurt by GULC moving down a position or two. It's also ridiculous that they'd be seriously damaged by any "haters" and their actions as a result. I mean, assuming people do base their subscription decisions on these rankings that badly... If GULC moves down, then that means another school moves up, and don't all those people being happy about the USNWR move kind of cancel out the GULC people who are angry/upset?

LOL. Yeah if Texas moved into the top 14 then everyone going to that school would consider the U.S. News rankings the most reliable document ever created.

"We've just started the data collection for the upcoming 2011 edition of America's Best Graduate Schools, which will be published in early spring 2010." -US News Website.

I remember reading somewhere that said the rankings are released in the first week of March. FWIW

Having the rankings come out in March would be interesting, because most first seat deposits are due in April, and it may change decisions at the last minute. I'd think that the rankings would come out after most first seat deposits (or rather, that schools tend to schedule first seat deposits before the potential ranking shakeup). No basis for that, just how I feel.

I feel like the rankings came out later than usual last year due to the new formula that was being implemented for the 1st time. I thought they usually came out mid-March.

There will be ties, of course, but I just ignored this in my ranking list.

I am under the impression from what I have read that Emory actually is already too high. Job prospects seem (anecdotally) significantly worse than BU, who probably deserves the swap with emory here.

+ BU places like nobody's business, esp. in New England.
