Whoo! If I don't improve on December, BC and ND are going to be my top choices, I think...apparently, I love dem Catholics.

Maybe we'll be classmates!

I hope we are! I cant wait. Assuming I dont get off some of the waitlists I'm currently on, BC will be the choice for me!

At least include attractiveness of male student body if you're going to do this.

As much as I love BC, note that those numbers are taken from the class of 2007...the peak of hiring.

i think he was implying BC>BU at peak ==> BC>BU in general, which makes sense. it would be strange if that relationship flipped because the economy tanked

It seems that BC and BU are both quite similar. Which school offers more merit aid?

Right. Though the attractiveness of the male population has gone down at both schools in absolute terms, the relative difference is unlikely to be changed.

Correcto. The stat was from the class of 2008, but the offers were mostly from the summer of 2007...which is what I was getting at.

as the OP, I want to zero in on the clerkship thing. Does anybody have any statistics or inklings about how tough these are to get from both institutions? Why does everybody seem to agree that BU is better for these?

And what about DA's offices in other cities? Any chance from BU or BC?

What's wrong with asking about student body attractiveness? What the hell else are you going to use to compare these two schools? They are practically the same thing. BU/BC should just combine into one gigantic school and own Boston.

Should I decide to attend BC, I will increase the level of attractiveness of the male community. But ladies, please don't get your hopes up.

Clerkship placement - BC

Placement in DA's office - SAME

Placement in Southern California - BU no question here.

Placement in DC - BU - tons of federal attorneys.

Social Life - No idea, but BU's anti-social rep or whatever is completely unfounded and just TLS mythology.

Lay Prestige - Depends. In Boston, yes BC. Outside of Boston, its definitely BU. Our placement is much more diverse than BU - more to DC, more to CA, more out west.

Attractiveness of female student body - if you like white pretty Catholic girls, then BC. If you're more into the alternative look, BU.

Ray, that chart you have.. the updated one has BU ahead. They flip flop for biglaw placement. Leiter says BU beats BC consistently for elite firms. Take it as you will.

Thats true in terms of GPA but what about BC's 19% acceptance rate v. 29 or 26% for BU?

Honestly, its because BU has a lower offer acceptance rate. It tends to be a T14 safety school. People who apply to BC seem to be more targeted on going there. Most people here either chose BU or a T14 because of $, or rode the T14 waitlist game. Our numbers are pretty close to the T14 range.

Yeah but I think its difficult to argue that BU is much more selective because of a .2 difference in GPA.

I still think I should mention that since these schools are so ridiculously similar, any prospective student needs to really visit both schools and sit-in on a class. You need to see which school offers the best services for your particular needs. Of course, scholarship $$ at one school v. none at the other should help make the decision a little bit less arduous.
