You'll love it here at TLS.

Wow, actually sending that email falls into the zone of potentially severely injuring someones future. If that isn't ban worthy, I don't know what is.

FC jumped the gun, assuming he/she actually sent it in and isn't just trying to scare the OP. And the letter has pre-schadenfreude written all over it. But the rush to condemn the OP rather than inform and persuade is jumping the gun as well. This could have played out without incident and drama if you guys had simply cited the ED contract and argued why paying the application fee at other schools does not entitle one to a decision given that contract, and pointed out that schools trade enough information to put the OP in danger of being recognized as violating that contract. Then you put the moral cherry on top by explaining how violating the contract negatively affects others.

He better disclose that he made this post as well or C&F will have his ass!!!111!!!oneoneone

Sending it to the admissions office was a dick move, but OP dug his own grave.

Hand-waving BS. OP was a little selfish in wanting to know the status of his other applications, and didn't really care about the massive wave of self-righteousness that entered the thread (which paralleled his own BTW).

Then Captain Asshat over there decided that his crimes were so severe that the school should be informed. This isn't a logical procession of events, it's just the result of one guy being somehow so self-righteous and obnoxious that he managed to overshadow OP.

Potentially removing the cloud of anonymity isn't ban worthy? Yes, OP dug his own grave, but FC is a self-righteous tool.

I doubt the school will care either way. If they do care enough to do something drastic, OP should've known better and Captain Asshat will probably find karma to be a real bitch somewhere down the road.

If all Captain Asshat did was send a thread link to the school, I don't see why he should be blamed for any kind of "outing" when the only personal data gained was posted on this public forum by the OP himself. He didn't disclose any personal info on these boards as far as I know.

I think people would have done exactly as you suggested if the OP hadn't acted with such incredible douchebaggery and asshattedness.

lol, give me a break. At least we can confirm that you'll be a lawyer.

I like that the Captain Asshat nickname is catching on, though.

I know how you feel. If I get into NYU ED I will still want to know how I did elsewhere

That being said, there are a lot of kids desperate to get into the schools you are applying to. If you take there spot that's an asshole move. Please withdraw your other apps.

I think the only way to balance out the scales of the TLS universe is for the OP to send emails to the schools FacistCommunist is applying to about his douchebaggery.

Just forwarding them his spelling of the word "fascist" should be enough.

i dont get it...sure FC did something i wouldnt condone, but like Helm said, he didn't "out" the OP. it was just a link to a public forum. if adcomms read it and decide to take action, it is because of what the OP said. if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? (technically no)...but for this whole analogy to work...

but really, adcomms will not do anything. i just try to do that thing where i dont say things i regret on an online forum or post pictures i regret on facebook. do we all lack so much willpower and self-control that we NEED the cloak of anonymity to hide behind?

lol and what would this email say? i was acting like a douche online and FC acted like a bigger douche by informing my potential future law school. so i will try to out-douche him by sending you this email, informing you of FC's actions.

So then you have no ethical qualms with me forwarding every school every post you've made here, I assume. Or perhaps someone could hire a private investigator to follow you around and see if you are the kind of student your schools would usually want. After all, it's your actions, not the actions of the person forwarding materials and hiring private investigators, that are being deliberated here, right? Phenomenal.

Seriously, the level of Captain Asshat's douchbaggery was astounding. The issue of how serious the school is going to take it ("oh some dickweed on an Internet forum thought this should be seen by us...lol") is beside the point. The reality is that Captain Asshat had some jerk-off fantasy, no matter how unrealistic, of seeing OP's acceptance get withdrawn because he was a little snarky on the Internet.

I agree the school will not do anything but the intent was still to put OP in a bad situation. Also while the forum is public it was FC that brought the adcomms attention to the thread.

i have no qualms w/ you forwarding every school every post ive made on TLS. i try to think before i type. i may have been opinionated in some posts, but nothing i regret or would rush to go change to ... right now. once again, it's called self-control and common sense. you're on an ONLINE FORUM. be careful of what info you give out. tbh, if someone wanted to track me down, they MAY be able to do it just from the stuff ive provided in TLS posts...but maybe not (they'd have to have access to some private info as well).

if someone wanted to hire a private eye to follow me around, that'd be uncomfortable, but from the ethical standpoint of how i would fit in a law school, go for it. as long as it isnt intrusive. i dont have any skeletons in my closet that im aware of...

edit: look, my point isnt to say FC did something RIGHT...he did do a below-the-belt move, but im just saying, ppl are making it seem too black and white, like the OP is some blameless victim in a hate crime by the sadistic FC
