I got a bit of a curious e-mail from Emory's admissions office this morning.

The e-mail said that "we will not be going to our waitlist this year" and that that I am essentially WL/rejected.

The curious thing is that I was accepted off of the Emory waitlist at the beginning of June. I declined the offer and said goodbye.

This is especially puzzling because it is pretty well documented that Emory has had some limited waitlist activity this Summer. Were they lying? Is there an implied "anymore" at the end of the above quote?

Strange... who else got the e-mail?

i got that email too...

no idea why they would say something that was not demonstrably not true in their email. was a little bizarre, in my opinion.

What made you chose Fordham over Emory? And how is Fordham thus far?

I am from New York and Fordham has a better biglaw placement than Emory

I like Fordham a lot and I can say that the school is not overly competitive at all (so far). Classes and Professors are great. Can't speak regarding the social life because I dont have much of one at the moment (lol) and I have a lot of non-law school friends in NY. The people from my section that I have gotten to know seem cool and pretty smart (seems like every other person went to an Ivy UG (I did not)). I thought I wanted a smaller law school, like Emory, but I am happy with the size of Fordham. Don't mind the cold weather (finally got into the 50s today!) and I didn't like the idea of living in the ATL as much as NYC.

The cynic in me says you will be considered a rejected student when Emory reports its acceptance rate to U.S. News.

I think you are right-- that totally explains the ambiguity. Those wily bastards.

Freaking tell me about it.

Glad you love it here too, though.
