Yeah, I know the name's pretentious (I mean, I can see the flip posts now: "who isn't waiting to get into Yale? EVERYONE wants to go to Yale!"), but I thought this would be useful for all those who want to post and discuss things but are tired of getting adrenaline spikes every time someone posts on that Yale Class of 2012 thread.

If this isn't helpful, let it die.

PS: Happy Wednesday! :)

Good idea!

The only problem is that in this thread we won't be able to live vicariously through those in the admitted thread :(

Ah well, guess I can deal.

Lol, I thought that too, but the problem with living vicariosuly is that it makes the fall even harder (assuming there's a fall, that is)...

I am down with the thread. I also had a mini heart attack every time someone posted on the other thread.

I'm definitely at the point where I just want SOMEONE to be admitted so that at least I know that we're not all stuck in some God forsaken limbo and I can stop thinking about it.

Good idea! As happy as I am for the admitted kids, reading about their "stressful" wait for the binders hasn't been all that great for my sense of inner balance...

Exactly! I had assumed that there would have been one or two rounds of January acceptances by now.

Just admit people! If I'm not in the next batch or two, I can stop thinking about it and start seriously debating my other options.

I have the same feelings as Objection. If they don't call someone soon, I seriously think that I'm going to have a dream in which Jules Coleman calls me to tell me I'm in (if memory serves, Professor Amar called alexb last year....ha, that would be pretty surreal). Is it too nerdy that I would be starstruck? Either way, it needs to free my mind of its badgering.

Probably tres gauche, but I keep wondering what all the other prospective Yalies' numbers and softs are. I feel very warm about everyone on this site, but that's tempered by feeling very competitive with all y'all.

What does "tres gauche" mean? Never heard it.

If you do some reading between the lines in yesterday's blog post, it seems to indicate that this cycle is different than previous cycles in the sense that they may be doing things slower/later.

You're in luck -- this year, we are accepting February LSAT, so if you can take the test again next month, you can still apply this year.

Lastly, keep in mind that you should not feel rushed to apply this year if you aren't ready.

Very... gauche. Something gauche (if I'm remembering correctly) is sort of like a slight social monstrosity.

Never heard the word gauche. Thanks for that. Learned a new word!

It's French!

I do hope they make some January decisions at least. Although... I could have spent a little more time on my Y250.

My Yale 250 was about the size of one of my body parts.

For my part, I'm over YLS's 75% on both (that's as specific as I'd like to be), but my softs aren't that fantastic (decent undergrad, some volunteering, etc). Getting into Yale has been my goal since I first encountered legal theory and began researching law schools. I really think their faculty is second to none (Coleman, Balkin, Ayres, etc), and I love the way their law school is structured. In that sense, it's not really a goal as far as my ego or whatnot is concerned, but it's just that I would like the opportunity to study in that environment.

Man, rereading over that--I need to get of YLS's d*&^!

My GPA is well below Yale's 25th (3.5 range) but my GPA is above their 75th. I am also a black male. So I kind of have no idea baout my chances.

Crappy undergrad. Average softs.

FWIW, a friend of mine with a 4.0/178 that goes to school with me and went complete in October hasn't heard anything either.

I'm under median for one of my numbers but above 75% on the other, with quite solid softs. I feel decent since hourumd gives my numbers around 50%, with chances actually increasing from less recent to more recent cycles. So... I guess we'll see.

HourUMD doesn't help for me.

2/22 in with worse - but both of those were also black males.

1/3 rejected with better.

Hard to draw a conclusion from that.

Ha, the frustrating thing is that since no one has been admitted since the late December auto-admits (who presumably were approved by the dean), nobody knows where they stand.

I think if that's how I was called I would get swept up in the rapture and ascend into the heavens...

But yes, though it is nerdy, I can empathize. ;)
