You should write them a "you are not Harvard" email in response.

I was thinking about this earlier today.

It seems like with the sheer level of talent and intellect here that TLS'ers should appear on all scholarship lists.

I have faith in you people!

Zing!

Seriously though, NYU is a great school.

I'll be there tomorrow but I already won the "My laptop was stolen by a cabbie" scholarship. It's awesome - the cab takes off with your laptop still in the back seat and you can't track them down for the life of you. The scholarship is worth -$1,500! Thanks, NYU!!!

Do you find out that your are accepted to NYU before they tell you if you are being considered for an interview? Or do you find out both at the same time?

If you want general merit scholarships you need to go through the financial aid process even if you don't think you will qualify for need based money. This is my understand, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

This is correct. Outside of the special application scholarships, all aid is given on a combination of need and merit. NYU tends to give fewer and bigger awards, as compared to its peers who give out more but smaller awards.

Thanks for reviving this thread! Just this week I started my NYU scholarship essays and went looking for a thread on here seeing if anyone else has applied. Doesn't look like this thread got much action last year.

Anyone else applying for the scholarships?

Alright...in the process of writing the different scholarship essays. For those of you who have gone through the process, does it matter if your essay for say the "AnBryce Scholarship" is similar to the "Root-Tilden-Kern Scholarship?" Does each scholarship committee have access to both essays? I'm trying to balance how appropriate it would be to lift certain paragraphs from each essay (and even my PS), as the content of each essay (and my PS) is perfectly suited for the essays I'm writing.

Insights anyone?

I wrote almost identical essays for two different scholarships. If you applying for two scholarships with entirely different criteria, this might not be a good idea.

Thanks for the response. The problem I am having is that the criteria are much more similar than they are different--hence my dilemma.

Do you (or anyone) know if the scholarship selection committees have access to our other scholarship essays? The thing is, if they do, I don't want them to get the impression that I am incapable of producing a different essay, but if they don't--I would like both committees to know basically the exact same thing.

Anyway, I would imagine they probably see it done both ways.

P.S. How did you all "sign" the scholarship essays? Did you send a physical copy? I am just planning on sending the essays with my application via LSAC.
