First you have to understand how selective law school is in the first place. Most of the people who would be likely to drop out probably didn't take undergraduate too seriously, hurting their chances at top schools, or didn't take the LSAT seriously, resulting in abysmal chances of even getting accepted to an ABA school. Remember that the median LSAT score is somewhere around 150. A solid 1/3 of everyone taking the LSAT will get scores that won't get them into anywhere barring extenuating circumstances and the rest of their application being stellar.

That being said, most schools will go out of their way to prevent people from failing out academically, as that is a statistic that looks bad for them (though some lower ranked schools pride themselves on it, using it as a measure of how "rigorous" their classes are).

Go here, enter the % attrition threshold you wish to evaluate and hit search now. Pretty interesting results...

Each school (in the official guide on the lsac.org web site) splits the 1L dropouts into categories of dropping out for academic reasons or non academic reasons. That helps.

Also, the guide also shows how many students transfer in and transfer out. Very telling...

the percentages aren't that bad but my concern is that there may be people in law school who wan't to bail out but don't out of fear.

Once you get started, I'd encourage people to finish. Even if you decide not to practice law, you still have a professional degree which will make you a more attractive candidate for other jobs.
