Do any of you who are getting A's think this is a good guide on how to get them if you follow these steps? I truly believe I had all the knowledge, just couldn't format it a way to make everything I know to come out as analysis on the paper.

I agree with earlier posters that you need to figure out what each prof is looking for. I had a K prof who wanted us to write our exam assuming that the reader did not know the first thing about K law (like speaking to a client), explaining each rule and citing things like crazy. My Torts prof didn't want us to rehash any rules or explicitly cite any cases, but instead just spot issues and apply the rules to the issues/fact patterns to see how things come out. He didn't even care if we picked a side or told him who should win.

I don't have a "pattern" that I follow for exam writing, so I can't give any insight on the link you provided. During last semester, I just got a feeling for what the prof wanted from our classes and past exams/model answers and then targeted the exam response to their individual style. Having a couple model answers available from past exams makes this task a lot easier, which was the case for two of my classes.

Not sure if you read the "Getting to Maybe" book, but it was the only exam prep guide that I looked at and it helped to give me a little more insight into what a general law school exam will focus on, what to concentrate on in each hypo, how to take a murky issue and run with it, etc. These tips did not apply to all of my exams (again, due to variations among the profs), but was helpful in certain spots.

Bear in mind I am still waiting for two grades, so I am not at all in the clear yet.

Trying to discuss this in a general way is pointless. I received an A+ in Civ Pro without citing a case. I received an A+ in Contracts and probably cited at least 70 cases in my final exam. I received an A- in Crim without citing a single case, and a B+ in torts citing quite a few.

Figure out what your professors want, and go from there.

One of the midwestern T1 public schools (paying instate) to... I don't know yet. I'm going to do the GULC EA thing, just to leave my options open. Any more than that will obviously depend on how I do this semester.
