What have people been paid for a summer internship at a law firm?? I just wanted to know because I'm doing one this summer and I am supposed to be offered some compensation next week, I already had the interview, its in nyc if that makes a difference....During the interview i mightve made a mistake the guy interviewing me said that they dont know how much they could pay me and i was like oo you dont have to pay me SO much, or wutever something like that but then hes like well we dont want you to lose money from working here. but i shoudnt have said anything because maybe theyll pay me less now....but i wanted to know what the average for an internship was so i can compare it thanks for all who answer

Doing what exactly? Paralegal work? You're not in law school yet, so it can't be a summer associate position.

Sounds like you interviewed at a smaller firm with a limited budget. I think a rough estimate would be $35-50K. Just sit tight and wait for the letter. I don't think your comment affected things much. Your salary will be mostly constrained by the firm's financial situation.

Oh, well then... you'll probably get paid towards the lower end of the scale that you mentioned. I don't know if there's a "market rate" for stuff like this. It's probably at the discretion of the lawyers in the firm.

Nobody taking this type of job will be paid well. If you just want money, maybe this isn't the best thing to take. But if you want experience (and networking opportunities), just take it and make the most of it.
