Aren't you entering law school in 2 years? It's a bit early to be worrying about briefing. In general, it'll take you a while to get the hang of it at first, reading a case 3 times might happen at the very start. After you pick up on how cases are laid out you can skim over a case and pull out the relevant sections fairly quickly.

yup.. 2 years more before i enter law school. But my course right now is a little like law proper.. we're given 5-20 cases every week, make a case brief, we have studied Family code of the phil., legal research and writing, law on obligations and contracts, Philippine constituton, Revised Penal code (criminal law), negotiable instruments law, law on agency and partnership, law on banking, labor law and more. each of us in the class will be asked to recite for 1 hour, or if fortunate enough, 30 minutes.. We are even required to work in a law firm this summer. . In other words, we do stuffs like what law students do.

in con law 2 I had to brief 40 cases. I would read through them once. do a quick brief. re-read my brief.. then read the case again. finalize my brief.. done. 97%

By the time I was halfway through 1L year I was book briefing only. This means reading through and highlighting/underlining sections and that was about it.
