This might be a stupid question but does being in or out of state make a difference at public law schools? I would assume it wouldn't at all at private institutions, but what about public?

I have searched old posts and could not find a good answer. Apparently UVA weighs this the heaviest but that doesn't do me any good. I'm looking at UI-UC...so if you know anything about that school specifically or public schools in general I would be glad to know.

I really think this is dependent on the school.

UNC is known to have a quota, as is Texas (thought I'm not sure about this)

As for the Mid West schools, I've never heard them referenced in a topic that discusses a possible in-state bump, same with the UCs.

check out the law school profiles. For example, Minnesota accepts close to 60% out of state, with a 40% in-state.

Awesome. Good to know. Any other opinions out there?

UVA is 40% in-state, but I don't believe that it is mandated. Texas is a mandated 65% in-state quota.
