Hello all,

If a school does not ask for a diversity statement, only asking for a PS, should I still send in my DS anyways?

Many thanks for your help.

Many thanks.

I would not send a separate diversity statement. Instead, I would attempt to integrate the diversity issues into my personal statement if possible (particularly if the personal statement has no page/word limit).

Thanks for the responses so far. Much appreciated.

unfortunately for me, I'm not URM...but I do feel I have a strong diversity statement to add...shall I send anyways? It is a bit over a page in length.

agreed. if they do not specifically mention it in the instructions, i'd be wary to include a totally separate piece.

Thanks for the input.

Sorry to keep pounding this over the head...

So if a school does NOT say "any other information you think should be considered..." , then I should NOT submit a DS, correct?

The thing I like about my PS is that it talks a bit about my diversity issues without losing too much focus... but the question of whether or not to send a separate statement has been my biggest dilemma

Any other thoughts are much appreciated.

Why not contact the admissions office for these schools? You can ask them whether you can or not? :).

I sent it to all schools, so far it's hasn't been detrimental.

+1

Though busy, that is what they are there for. I e-mailed a Dean of Admissions after a visit and got a reply the next day.
