So I've been sweating how long my personal statement should be. For UCLA's application it states the PS is "not to exceed two double-spaced typed pages" or be less than 12-point font. In other words, the PS should be 500 to 550 words, maybe 650 with wide margins. But many of the personal statements I've read in this forum, including those on the PS Advice page -- http://www.top-law-schools.com/statement.html
-- exceed that length by about a page.
Is this because UCLA has stricter guidelines than many other top schools or is it just that few people actually follow those guidelines and I will be punishing myself if I do so?
