From what I've been able to gather, it is possible for a non-resident 1L at Uconn to become a resident and pay the instate tuition for the remainder of his/her law school career. Is this something that is unique to Uconn, or do most public law schools allow it?

Most state schools provide pretty explicit instructions for obtaining residency (see, e.g., from UTexas: http://www.utexas.edu/student/admission ... esfaq.html )

Different states and schools have different residency requirements, but it's typically one of the perks of a public school is being able to get in-state tuition after the first year.
